SUPPORTING THE ORPHANS : Do you think it's the right thing to do?

An orphan has been defined as the person who has lost one or both parents due to death.
Sometimes I feel that not everyone who has a parent actually has the basic amenities of life and are deficient of some life essentials as a result of poverty.
Hence, making some of these minors and young children leaving their homes to seek greener pastures even at a very tender age that leads to their vulnerability and exposure.

In one of her report, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Salamatu Suleiman, she said; The number of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Nigeria is estimated at 17.5 million, out of which 7.3 million are orphaned by HIV/AIDS, particularly in states with high prevalence.

According to some of the facts about orphans on lift the children it was stated that; "In every other part of the world the number of orphans is decreasing, in Africa the numbers are increasing at an alarming rate. Here are some disturbing facts:

  • Over 30 percent of the children who die in the world are African, even though they make up only 10% of the world’s children.
  • 19,000 African children die every single day
  • Over 1 million children are orphaned every year
  • There are more than 90,000 new orphans every month … more than 2,900 every single day
The numbers are staggering and the misery is unimaginable. Most of these children have been orphaned due to the AIDS pandemic, which generates more orphans than any other disease the world has ever known."

Can you now see that there is need for emergence attention, care and support for these orphans?

The reason being that many of these children have no one to reckon with, they have no home, they have no family and sometimes with the fear of having no bright future but I'm telling you that if you and I can deem it fit to remember these children in our prayers and support them with gift items and money, then we will be making a whole lot of difference.

In lieu of the above statement, NosaGrace and Dreams Concept in conjunction with issebele Foundation presents ORPHANS CONCERT.
The programme was initiated to celebrate every orphan, to give them a sense of belonging and not feeling ostracised. As stated earlier, every orphan deserves to live and has the right to life and good living.
